Chennai Super Kings
- The Chennai Super Kings, champions of the last IPL, will be without their regular captain, Ms Dhoni.
- Ruturaj Gaikwad is the new captain of the team.
- Youngster Rachin Ravindra will open the innings along with Rituraj Gaikwad.
- Ajinkya Rahane is expected to bat in the third position.
- Daryl Mitchell or Moeen Ali will likely bat at number five.
- Sameer Razvi will likely bat at number five, replacing the now-retired Ambati Rayudu.
- Mahesh Theekshana is expected to partner with Jadeja for the spin department.
IPL Points table 2024 -Punjab Kings
- Jonny Bairstow Sam Curran, Jitesh Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, Sikandar Raza, Liam Livingstone and Prabhsimran Singh are all retained in the lead-up to IPL 2024
- Prabhsimran Singh enjoyed an impressive year in 2023, during which the 23-year-old scored 358 runs over 14 games and had a great domestic season that can boost his confidence heading into his 17th year in the IPL. He will be playing with veteran batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who hasn’t played as much cricket in recent years, which is a problem. Bairstow’s decline in form and Curran’s inconsistent play aren’t to be ignored.
- Punjab Kings can be extremely difficult to defeat if they’re in good form. It doesn’t matter if it’s Bairstow, Curran, Livingstone, or the new addition Rilee Rossouw; all these batters can be game changers, and that’s the Punjab Kings’ biggest strength in IPL 2024. However, spin bowling appears to be an issue because Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar haven’t performed particularly well for Punjab before; however, Punjab believes in their abilities regardless.
- Regarding the pace attack, Rabada is expected to lead the charge alongside Arshdeep Singh and new addition Harshal Patel on his side. Including Harshal on the team will help them solve their death-bowling problem since the team will be able to use Arshdeep using this new bat. The team also has Vidwath Kaverappa and could be a fascinating choice since he has performed well both in cricket at home and as a player for India A.

IPL Points table 2024-Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Aiden Markram-led side arguably looked the strongest on paper in 2023 but finished at the bottom of the table. The team management was livid with the performance, resulting in the head coach’s sacking, Brian Lara. Moreover, Markram, too, lost his place despite winning two back-to-back SA20 titles. Was that a clever call? Well, the franchise considered a captaincy change and signed Pat Cummins for INR 20.50 crore; given his track record in the recent past and connection with head coach Daniel Vettori, SRH made the obvious choice.
Under the leadership of Cummins, Australia won the World Test Championship, managed to retain the Ashes in England, and won the ODI World Cup in 2023, which influenced SRH to choose Cummins as the team’s captain. On top of that, the 2016 champions added Travis Head, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shahbaz Ahmed and Jaydev Unadkat. Interestingly, they already had the likes of Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen and Glenn Phillips as options, who all are in incredible form in recent times.
When it comes to Indian talent, they have the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma with the bat. Still, neither cricketers proved their consistency with the bat in the last season or even in domestic cricket this year. With the ball, all eyes will once again be on Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who will be gunning to make his return to the national team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Either T Natarajan or Umran Malik will likely partner with him, as Cummins will likely play as the third seamer.
Washington Sundar and Shahbaz will handle the spin department. Once again, they look like a champion side but can act as a bane for SRH. There’s too much qualify in the side, and the player sitting out will not enjoy warming the bench. Picking four foreign players seems like a challenge, and that’s a concern for SRH ahead of the first match against KKR on March 23 at the iconic Eden Gardens. However, if they find the right combination and momentum, SRH will be a difficult team to beat.
Delhi Capital
Although Delhi Capitals finished ninth in the league in 2023, they’re significantly more relaxed in anticipation of the next edition. The credit goes to the return of Rishabh Pant, who could not participate in the 2023 season due to numerous injuries sustained during an incredible car crash. After a long time in rehab, the ace India batter is back and hopes to bring Delhi back to the top of the table under his direction. The Capitals finished as league leaders in 2021 but ultimately lost to KKR in the Qualifier 2.
In the lead-up to IPL 2024, they’ve added an arsenal of firepower in the shape of Jake Fraser McGurk, Shai Hope, and Tristan Stubbs. In addition, the team led by Pant includes players like David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, who have proven to be match-winners and are in top performance at the moment. Amid Indian players, the focus will be focused on the newcomer Prithvi Shaw. Before the 2024 season, there were reports that the franchise might let go of Shaw. However, they may eventually keep the player. If his season does not go as planned, it could be the last time he’s a part of the team.
The bowling department is in good shape also. Anrich Nortje will head the pace team, while Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel will take charge of spin bowling. Both spinners have proven outstanding with white-ball in recent years and are being considered to make the Indian team for the forthcoming T20 World Cup. The trio of Jhye Richardson, Khaleel Ahmed, and Mukesh Kumar can cause chaos too. They appear to be a well-balanced team, but players must be pushed to the limit to reach the playoffs.
